To burn off my ‘only child energy’ and inspired by the YouTube filmmaking generation, visits from my cousins became opportunities to video my first short films. I performed in community theatre right throughout primary and high school. At Hamilton Boys High, I earned the Top of the Class award in Year 13 for my work filming and editing short documentaries which were shown as exemplars. Since studying at South Seas in 2014, I’ve thrown myself into every filmmaking opportunity and written scripts well into the late hours of the night. Highlights have been cracking up with the crew on Comedy Central’s ‘Bouncers’ and seeing my beautiful Waikato region showcased in the NZIFF’s showing of ‘Home Kills’ of which I was involved. For me, it’s the collaborative aspect of filmmaking and the ‘we might just get away with it!’ attitude which ensures I’m always hungry for the next project. Ki te kāpuia e kore e whati.
