Anya is a writer, filmmaker and multi-media visual artist with a varied skill set. She has worked in different roles within the art department including as a props/fabrications assistant on Rings of Power and her work as a visual artist/sculptor inspires all her filmmaking endeavours.
Anya has a First Class Honours in Fine Arts through Massey University Wellington, and a Masters in Creative Writing Majoring in Screenwriting through Auckland University of Technology. She twice placed first in the Wellington Emerging Artist’s Awards for the Works on Paper category and the Sculpture category, and recently placed in the NZSA Waikato Poetry Competition. She was the writer and voice actor on the V48Hours short film ‘The GAYtkeeper’, which was a Hamilton City finalist, taking home the Best Sound Design Award, and was nominated for Best Sound Design in the Grand Finals.
Recently, Anya completed her short poetry film ‘The Ferret And The Rabbit’, and exhibited her video installation ‘Loopy Lumens’ in the Kirikiriroa Festival of Weird. On her writer’s slate, she is currently developing a feature, two serialised dramas and two short film scripts. She loves to tell stylistic stories through a queer-feminist perspective with a particular love for science fiction/fantasy.
