I was a scenic artist based in New York City starting in 1994, while completing an art degree. My work on music videos led to print and CD packaging where I combined my steel sculpture and scenic background, using various metal finishing methods to create backdrops, custom props, and sets. I moved into the role of Art Director in 1997 and worked in this capacity until 2005. In 2004 I worked on a Kiwi production in NYC (Louis Vuitton 150th anniversary, IOP Productions) which led to a job offer on “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” in New Zealand with Film FX LTD and then as a prop painter for Weta Workshop. I then was an Art Director on the first season of Outrageous Fortune. I remained in NZ, married, and started a family where I transitioned into the fitness industry as a qualified Olympic Weightlifting and Strength and Conditioning Coach for 14 years. Now a NZ citizen, I’ve set numerous records in Olympic Weightlifting and represented New Zealand in the Masters’ World championship in 2019 in Montreal (so I’m still strong enough to lift a 10-liter bucket!). I have now returned to my role as a scenic artist, working on several shows in the USA, and I hope to follow this endeavor in my home in New Zealand. At this stage in my life, I want to work as a crew member, and not an HOD. I enjoy the craft and can operate in various Art Department roles. I live in Auckland am and happy to travel for work to Waikato, and or stay as a local for work.
