It was viewing ‘THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD’, James Whale’s ‘THE INVISIBLE MAN’ and the Lon Chaney/Rupert Julian ‘PHANTOM OF THE OPERA’ between the ages of 2 and 4 that changed my life forever. To think that people behind the cameras were impeccably crafting these powerful works sent shockwaves through my soul. I knew what I had to do for the rest of my life…
Thanks to an old (even then) home camcorder and the bountiful warehouse bargain bins, I spent my childhood immersed in the world of cinema: watching, reading, and dreaming as much as I could fit into 24 hours a day. Having fallen jointly in love with music, I began teaching myself keyboard and composing my own scores at age 7. This led to hundreds of homemade epics; from monster movies and mysteries, to adventures and documentaries. From ages 10-11, I began experimenting with animation and special effects; further familiarising myself with the tools of the trade.
Flash-forward to high school and I began watching hundreds of films a year, shooting many projects with friends, composing music and writing short stories. At 15 I started work at the local supermarket, a job I maintained for 8 years, and a wellspring of inspiration for scripts and scenarios.
With school over, I began pursuing film projects whenever I wasn’t needed down aisle 3!
I’m currently working on an animated adaptation of Stephen King’s short story ‘The Reach’, having acquired the rights through King’s ‘Dollar Baby’ program.
